“you can’t help but smiling at it when you listen to it.”
rating: 3 out of 5
Falling is the Phil Vinall produced debut single from the eccentric sounding The Outside Royalty, which after a couple of listens I can’t tell if I like, hate or have no opinion on, it’s just a little odd, but like a naughty dog that then does something a bit cute, you ca’t help but smiling at it when you listen to it.
Musically it kind of flits between Arcade Fire majesty and Sparks weirdness, vocally it has to be compared to the likes of David Bowie, and Jarvis Cocker for me, both in the sound and the delivery style.
Maybe if I get to hear a full album at some point it’ll help me make up my mind, for now though I’m sitting on the fence.
